Rachel Murphy has expressed concern about what happened to his 5-pound dog Toto last weekend. Rachel says that a hairdresser taped Toto r's jaw shut after the dog had been bitten. As a result, Toto r became bloody and upset.
Rachel recounted, "My dog was clearly in distress. What I initially thought was a muzzle turned out to be tape. Toto r’s paws appeared to be red and inflicted with injuries. The toenails had been cut too near to the paw which probably triggered his biting response."
Wow! My Dog - a mobile salon for pets - employed the groomer to perform these actions.
Rachel rushed Toto to a veterinarian immediately for medical treatment. Rachel has accused Wow! My Dog of animal cruelty, joining a long list of other people who have made similar accusations. San Mateo has launched an investigation to determine if the company is guilty of animal cruelty.
Rachel described the wounds he noticed, saying: "I noted injuries around the joints, the neck, as well as in the genital. The cuts were so deep that they caused blood to flow."
Marianna De las Vegas - a Wow! My Dog client - posted a Yelp comment detailing how his pets had been returned to him unwell or injure. A Snapchat video captured by a customer showed a dog with obvious pain. He claimed that the groomer had forcedly inserted a towel into its ear.
Bad Review
In addition to the damning Yelp reviews, Wow! My Dog wants customers to be aware of what the groomer told him, as someone they had entrusted with their pets' well-being. Rachel stated, "Juliann informed to me animal abuse background info that the use of tape to close the mouth is acceptable and normal. He claims it is preferred to using a mute, which is harmful to dogs. He also stated that he personally applies this method to his own dog."
Gate News contacted Wow! My Dog, who answered the phone and handed it to a woman claiming that they were investigating allegations. She quickly responded that Wow! My Dog was a separate company when asked about it, and abruptly ended the call.
